Illustrated Wisdom

One of my new year resolutions is to meditate more. I have since, been sneaking it in before falling asleep, while watering the garden and during lunch. Sometimes it’s hard finding inspiration. These illustrated meditations by Yumi Sakugawa are great. They are reflective yet fun, and puts me in a meditation mindset straight away. Here is her tumblr page.
Mantra for 2012

In 2012 I will:
• Keep happy
• Learn to stay focused
• Do my best to live simply
• Worry less in order to have more fun
• Visualize happiness and joy to shield from difficulties (it will!)
• Mix it up. I still like routines but also welcome excitement.
Here are a few photos from our NYE. Wishing you all a wonderful year. Cheers!
Baked Quince

Have you ever eaten a Quince? You can’t eat them raw but when cooked this weirdly shaped yellow fruit is pretty amazing, tasting like a cross between an apple and an Asian pear but more fragrant and delicately tart. A few weeks ago they showed up in our CSA box and I tried out this Baked Quince recipe. It was wonderful and simple (it was also great with cheese and bread).
Ingredients:
- 3 large ripe quince
- 2 cups sugar
- ¾ cup water
- Pinch of salt
Directions:
Peel, cut into eighths, and arrange in a 1½-quart casserole equipped with a cover. Combine the sugar and water and bring to a boil. Add the salt. Pour over the quince, cover the casserole, and bake at 325 degrees 45 minutes, or until the fruit is tender but not mushy. Cool, and serve with heavy cream or sour cream. Wonderful World
This 2 minute clip shows us it really is a wonderful world.
The New Marilyn Movie

We saw the new Marilyn Monroe movie the other day. My week with Marilyn stars Michelle Williams who is beautiful and believable as the lead role. It is also packed with amazing British actors such as Kenneth Branagh, Judy Dench, the kid from Pillars of the Earth plays Colin Clark (the male lead) and the butler from the show Downton Abbey is also in it (love that show).
The movie is set in the 50’s, is enjoyable and captures part of the magic that was Miss Monroe. A small part of who she was or at least who we all think she is.
This is our place to discuss our interests in designs, lifestyle, arts, photography, eatings, etc. We are Mr. & Mrs. Pineapple Seed, Soraj and Nathiya Prathnadi.
